Stores Closed by Burst Water Main Reopen

Mountain Gate Plaza stores that closed last week when a water main broke have reopened, the owner of the Simi Valley shopping center said Saturday.

Most of the 30 to 40 businesses in the mall, which is undergoing renovation, were forced to close early last week when a 10-inch-wide main burst. After it was repaired, Ventura County health officials ordered the mall’s water system to be rechlorinated and tested.

Robert Champion, president of the Long Beach-based Champion Development Co., which owns the mall, said the stores were able to reopen Friday.
