SHADOW OF A DOUBT

We have always been overly concerned for the criminal in these cases. As an educator and past counselor for adult victims of incest and childhood molestation, I can tell you that the major battle in this war against stolen innocence is to make the victims feel safe enough to tell what has happened and to come forward. It is a daily fight for many of your own children, friends and family. How many more, today, will fall back into the darkness because you ran one well-placed, irresponsible article that only raised its own cloud of doubt and pandered to our weakest side--the side that doesn’t want to face the fact that childhood, for many, is a special nightmare?
