Disneyland this week will unveil an ambitious 10-year plan to expand the Magic Kingdom, company officials confirmed today.

The expansion project is to be officially announced in conjunction with the beginning of the park’s 35th anniversary celebration, officials said. It may include a reproduction of the Disney-MGM Studios at Disney World in Florida, an Indiana Jones stunt event and attractions based on Roger Rabbit or the Muppets, Disney officials said.

Some preliminary sketches shown to park personnel have included a stunt event--based on the Indiana Jones movies--near the Thunder Mountain Railroad roller coaster and a re-creation of a 1930s Hollywood back lot similar to that at Disney World’s Disney-MGM Studios in Orlando.

Disneyland has almost 80 acres of available space in Anaheim, including about 30 within the gates of the park.

On Thursday, Disneyland will kick off its 35th anniversary celebrations by bringing together three personalities who hosted the opening of the park in 1955: Bob Cummings, Art Linkletter and former President Ronald Reagan.

Disney Chairman Michael Eisner scheduled a Friday briefing at the Disneyland Hotel to announce “a decade of events” planned for the theme park, spokesman Phil Houtz said.
