El Salvador

Now is the moment for President Bush to intercede peaceably in El Salvador. Excluded from the five Central American nations’ settlement agreement regarding Nicaragua and now involved with occupational and rehabilitation activities in Panama, Bush should act to terminate a decade of death and destruction in El Salvador--and every civilized nation in the world would shower him with praise.

For only Bush can effectively call for a cease-fire and only he can order an immediate stop of U.S. military aid to El Salvador. And he is the person who should simultaneously set in motion the initiation of peace negotiations.

The President would win the thanks of millions should he also request a full and thorough investigation of the crimes now attributed to Roberto D’Aubuisson’s “death squads.”
