Escondido
A man was killed Wednesday when he drove a motorcycle into an Escondido house after a chase that exceeded 80 m.p.h., police said.
The pursuit started at 1:30 a.m. near Valley Parkway and Broadway when the motorcyclist saw a police officer and sped away, police said.
The chase progressed north on Broadway to Washington Avenue and then east to Ash Street, police said. The man crashed into the house in the 1900 block of North Ash Street, they said.
He was taken to Palomar Memorial Hospital, where he died at 4:34 a.m. of massive injuries to his chest, abdomen and legs.
Police were still trying to locate the owner of the motorcycle, which police suspect had been stolen, citing a tampered ignition.
