Don Johnson will be on location in New Orleans to host the musical special “Super Bowl Saturday Nite.” Guests for the CBS pre-Super Bowl special, airing Jan. 27 at 9 p.m., include Louie Anderson, Harry Connick Jr., Gallagher, Alan King, the Four Tops, the Neville Brothers and Linda Ronstadt.

Paramount has announced that it will produce its first TV movie for syndication, with Eddie Murphy Television Enterprises, for next Christmas. The movie, called “The Kid Who Loved Christmas,” will star Cicely Tyson, Michael Warren, Della Reese, Esther Rolle, Sammy Davis Jr., Ben Vereen and Vanessa Williams.

Neil Diamond will be presented with the Award of Merit by the “American Music Awards” in recognition of his outstanding contributions to musical entertainment. The annual special, hosted by Anita Baker, Alice Cooper, Gloria Estefan and the Judds, will air Jan. 22 on ABC.

The International Space Year and the 500th anniversary of Columbus’ first voyage to the Western Hemisphere will be marked in 1992 by two PBS series. The eight-part “Space Age” will document the extensive influence of space activity from social, economic, technological and scientific perspectives. “The Other Americas” will present in 10 episodes a panorama of Latin American and Caribbean history, culture, politics and people.

“The Bradys,” an hourlong comedy series for CBS, has begun production with original cast members Florence Henderson, Robert Reed, Ann B. Davis, Barry Williams, Christopher Knight, Michael Lookinland, Eve Plumb and Susan Olsen. The original “Brady Bunch” had a five-season run (1969-74) on ABC.

Expanding on a successful partnership that produced the hit TV shows “The Golden Girls” and “Empty Nest,” Walt Disney Studios has entered into a long-term motion picture and television production arrangement with Witt-Thomas-Harris Productions. The production company will develop and produce all TV programming for Walt Disney Television.

Home Box Office will observe Earth Day 1990 on April 22 with the animated family special “The Earthday Birthday,” the story of baby dinosaurs who join forces and recruit other creatures to save the planet.
