One month after Leticia Hernandez disappeared from the front steps of her family’s Bush Street apartment, investigators say the series of calls about sightings of the girl has dwindled to “almost zero.”

“We need help,” said Bob George, spokesman for the Oceanside police. “We are still asking people to keep their eyes open.”

The family, hoping that the 7-year-old will come home, have not opened their Christmas presents.

Leticia’s grandmother, Victoria Gonzalez, returned to work Tuesday at a local laundry. But Leticia’s sister, Maria Magdalena, 16, is still at home with their mother. The Oceanside High School student goes to school once a week to pick up class assignments, said her mother, also named Leticia Hernandez.

“I need her at home with me,” she said.
