Officials with nine college football independents in the East and Southeast discussed forming an all-sports conference during a conference call, Miami Athletic Director Sam Jankovich said.
Schools represented besides Miami were Boston College, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, South Carolina, Syracuse, Temple, Virginia Tech and West Virginia. Florida State has also expressed interest in the conference.
Of the nine schools, all but Miami are already in conferences dominated by basketball. Syracuse, Boston College and Pittsburgh are in the Big East; Rutgers, West Virginia and Temple in the Atlantic 10; and Virginia Tech, South Carolina and Florida State in the Metro.
