AIDS Virus Victim Gets Damages in Bias Case

A juury has awarded a former bus dispatcher $500,000 after finding that the Portland area transit agency discriminated against him because he had the virus that causes AIDS.

However, the damages will be reduced to $100,000 plus legal fees under a state law that places an upper limit on the amount that can be won against a public agency.
