PREP BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Liberty Christian Rally Falls Short
A slow start proved to much for Liberty Christian to overcome, as visiting St. Michael’s Prep took a 17-point lead at the half and posted a 59-54 Academy League boys’ basketball victory Friday night.
Liberty Christian outscored St. Michael’s 36-24, in the second half, but couldn’t make up a 35-18 halftime deficit.
Guard Jon Grobeler scored 25 points, including three three-pointers, for St. Michael’s Prep (4-1). Steve Chappell led Liberty Christian (1-4 in league play) with 21 points, 19 in the second half.
In the Arrowhead League:
Southern California Christian 61, Elliott Pope 28--Forward Steve Ackad scored 20 points and center Shawn Wiltshire had 17 rebounds and scored nine points for host SCC (10-8, 7-0), which led, 18-4, in the first quarter.
