A fight between two prisoners in the mess hall set off a melee that ended with injury to four sheriff’s deputies and one inmate in the Orange County jail Friday afternoon.
About 200 male inmates were in the hall supervised by five sheriff’s deputies when the fight broke out., Sheriff’s Lt. Richard Olson said.
When the deputies tried to break up the fight they were jumped by about 15 other inmates. Twenty other inmates came to their aid and broke up the fight after about three minutes.
