SOUTHLAND : Driver Guilty in 4 Traffic Deaths
A former part-time Glendale city worker was convicted of four counts of gross vehicular manslaughter today in the 1988 drunk-driving deaths of two women and their two daughters.
A Superior Court jury in Pasadena deliberated less than a day before announcing the decision in the case against William Kilpatrick Conway, who could face up to 18 years in prison when he is sentenced March 7.
Conway, 28, was also convicted of two felony counts of causing an accident with injuries while driving under the influence of alcohol for the July 13, 1988, deaths.
Valerie Cramer, 33, her daughter, Brianna, 9, along with neighbors Patricia Carr, 36, and her 6-year-old daughter, Karen, were killed when Conway’s car slammed into them on a traffic island as he went through a Glendale intersection at more than 70 m.p.h.
