Temple City : Olsen Is Grand Marshall

Merlin Olsen, actor, sportscaster and former Los Angeles Rams football player, will ride down Las Tunas Drive on Feb. 24 as grand marshal of the 46th annual Camellia Festival.

Olsen, who lives in San Marino and is a spokesman for FTD florists, will be joined in the parade by Camellia Festival King Kevin Conroy Jr., 6, Queen Jumana Musulli, 6, and a royal court of their fellow first-graders.

The festival celebrates the city motto, “Home of Camellias,” and the nine floats will be decorated with camellia petals and flowers collected and donated by residents. This year’s festival theme is “Kids and Cartoons,” and the floats will feature comic strip characters such as Charlie Brown, Mickey Mouse and Dennis the Menace.
