Stepped-up enforcement in Southeast San Diego has led to the arrest of a suspect in a recent drive-by shooting, police said Wednesday.
Shondell (Smurf) Clark, 21, was arrested in the 2700 block of Imperial Avenue about 3 p.m. Tuesday on suspicion of participating in a shooting Saturday that left four people hospitalized.
John Spann, 24; Quinton Mimms, 19; Zon Potts, 19, and Anthony Lyons, 18, were hit by gunfire from an AK-47 assault rifle and a shotgun. The weapons were fired by passengers in a vehicle driving in the 7400 block of Gribble Street. The incident is believed to be gang-related, and more arrests are anticipated, said Lt. George Saldamando, head of the police’s gang detail.
Clark faces charges of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon and is being held in the downtown San Diego County Jail. No bail has been set pending a court appearance.
