Man Guilty in Child Pornography Case

A Valencia man accused of committing a felony by annoying a child pleaded guilty Friday in a separate child pornography case and was ordered to undergo psychiatric counseling and perform 150 hours of community service, the Los Angeles city attorney’s office reported.

Randall L. Holding, 42, was fined $1,000 and was ordered by Los Angeles Municipal Judge Lois Anderson-Smaltz not to possess any child pornography during his three years on probation. He pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor count of showing materials involving pedophilia to an adult.

Holding, a moving consultant, could have been jailed for up to one year and fined $2,000.

The case stemmed from a Los Angeles police investigation last fall during which Holding was arrested on suspicion of child annoying when he made remarks to an undercover detective about fondling his 6-year-old stepdaughter, said Deputy City Atty. Tracy Webb, who handled the case.

Holding’s wife bailed him out of jail, but he was arrested again about three weeks later after investigators discovered more than 30 child-pornography videotapes in his house.

Holding is awaiting a separate preliminary hearing on the felony child annoyance charge, city attorney’s spokesman Mike Qualls said.
