Nation IN BRIEF : WASHINGTON, D.C. : Barry Arraignment Set for Next Week

A federal judge scheduled Washington Mayor Marion Barry’s arraignment for next Wednesday. Calls meanwhile continued for Barry to resign after his eight-count indictment on perjury and drug charges. Barry is receiving substance abuse treatment at a Florida clinic and reportedly has considered extending his stay. He must appear at the arraignment unless U.S. District Judge Thomas Penfield Jackson waives that requirement.
