They Have Points to Make After 102-24 Prep Game
In a strange twist of logic, Mr. Downey castigates a young star and her team for a stellar performance, lauds the losers as pragmatic heroines and characterizes Gil Ramirez’s actions as bravery. Downey goes on to hope that people remember Ramirez’s decision as a positive rather than negative action. Conversely, I think people will remember that Lisa Leslie was intentionally denied her opportunity to set a record, that the South Torrance team is a group of poor sports and shameless losers and that Gil Ramirez is a poor example for a basketball coach.
Remember, the game is not won by the swift, but by those who endure.
