Sulaiman in Hospital With Ailment
Jose Sulaiman, the president of the World Boxing Council who is reportedly ready to resign because of the controversy surrounding the Mike Tyson-James (Buster) Douglas fight, was hospitalized with an inflammation of the pancreas.
Sulaiman’s wife, Martha Saldivar de Sulaiman, said her husband was hospitalized Friday with pancreatitis, but she expected him to be released in a few days. She also denied reports that her husband plans to resign from the WBC.
According to several newspaper reports, Sulaiman is expected to announce his resignation as WBC president next week at an executive committee meeting in Mexico City. Sulaiman will tender his “irrevocable resignation” at the meeting,” Newsday said, quoting a WBC source.
