It’s no heat wave, but a Santa Ana condition that hit Thursday is bringing the warmest temperatures San Diego has seen in more than a month, the National Weather Service said. The pleasant, sunny conditions are expected to last through Sunday.

The high Thursday at Lindbergh Field was 74, several degrees above the norm of 66 for this time of year, said Wilbur Shigehara, senior meteorologist at the National Weather Service. The record high for Feb. 22 was 82, set in 1881.

“After the miserable weekend we had last week, we’re making up for it this weekend,” Shigehara said. “The Santa Ana will go away on Saturday, but the temperatures will still be above normal.”

“It should be very nice,” Shigehara said. “There will be plenty of sunshine, with a gradually developing haze.”

Some fog and low clouds will develop Sunday morning and increase by Sunday night, Shigehara said.

Highs at the beaches today will be 65 to 70, dropping a few degrees Saturday and Sunday, Shigehara said. The ocean is 55 degrees and the surf is at 2 to 3 feet.

Coastal highs today will be 72 to 77, and 68 to 74 on the weekend, according to the forecast. Overnight lows of 42 to 50 are expected tonight and Saturday night.

Inland areas this weekend will experience mid-summer-like temperatures with highs in the upper 70s to mid-80s, Shigehara said.
