CRESTED BUTTE, Colo. — Tommy Moe, who burst onto the scene as a downhiller but has gradually become a competent three-event skier, overtook Nate Bryan to win the giant slalom Thursday at the U.S. Alpine Ski Championships.
Moe, 20, of Palmer, Alaska, was three-hundredths of a second behind first-run leader Bryan, then posted the quickest second run of 1 minute 31.41 seconds.
Bryan, 19, of Vail, Colo., fell and hit his head just after crossing the finish line. Doctors treated him for a concussion.
