BUENA PARK : Western-Themed Dinner Theater Due

Share

A Western-style dinner theater will soon be making its home on Beach Boulevard, adding cowboys and Indians to the already-established entertainment lineup along the city’s main drag.

Mecca Leisure, a London-based company, will construct the 20,000-square-foot theater at the site of the Aztec Bowl bowling alley, said City Planner Rick Warsinski. Plans call for an indoor theater that will seat 750 people and feature country-style dinners and entertainment. It will be located in the theater district of the city’s Entertainment Corridor redevelopment project, which also includes Medieval Times.

“We hope to begin construction in June and complete it in the late fall,” said Ed Beaver, vice president of marketing for LA Entertainment, a subsidiary of Mecca Leisure.

Beaver said the land has been purchased and the company is in the process of obtaining the necessary permits before it proceeds with construction.

It is the company’s first venture in California, although it is looking at another site in Anaheim. Buena Park was chosen because of its high visibility and good freeway access, Beaver said. The company has dinner theaters in London and Orlando.
