At least two prospective buyers have expressed interest in the Minnesota North Stars, whose owners have said they will move the NHL team to California if a buyer isn’t found to keep the club in Minnesota.

Minneapolis businessman Harvey Mackay and a spokesman for Compuware Corp., a computer company based in Farmington Hills, Mich., say they have spoken with one of the North Stars’ owners.

Jim Rutherford, a former NHL goaltender and head of hockey operations for Compuware, said that Compuware has been wanting to buy an NHL team for the last 18 months.
