A murder suspect profiled on the television show “America’s Most Wanted” walked into a downtown police station and surrendered early today, authorities said.
James Noel, 45, was sought in the Oct. 2, 1989, fatal shooting of an 18-year-old woman accepting rental applications at an apartment building at 511 S. Park View St., west of downtown, Lt. Charles Massey said.
A profile of the case and the suspect were broadcast Sunday night on the Fox Television show, “America’s Most Wanted.”
Noel walked into the Central Division station at 251 E. Sixth St. about 5:45 a.m. as detectives from the Robbery-Homicide Division staked out a location where he was known to seek work as a day laborer, Massey said.
“He came into the desk and said that he was wanted for a murder, that he had seen himself profiled on ‘America’s Most Wanted’ Sunday night and that he wanted to give himself up,” Sgt. Ted Matthews said.
