USC relief pitcher Jackie Nickell picked off Jeff Hammonds at first base with two outs in the ninth inning and another runner on third to preserve the Trojans’ 3-1 victory over Stanford.
USC (12-3, 4-1 Pac-10 Southern Division) won two of the three weekend games against the Cardinal (13-5, 3-3).
