Antonovich Calls on RTD’s Pegg to Resign

Los Angeles County Supervisor Mike Antonovich on Tuesday stepped up his criticism of Alan Pegg and called on the embattled general manager of the Rapid Transit District to resign.

Antonovich, speaking at a Board of Supervisors meeting, said that “there appears to be a continual erosion of confidence” in Pegg, who was stripped of much of his power last week by the agency’s directors. Antonovich suggested that Pegg be replaced by Neil Peterson, executive director of the county Transportation Commission.

The supervisor said Peterson would ease confusion at the RTD and end the turf war between the county’s two largest transit agencies. Neither Pegg nor Peterson would comment.
