NBA ROUNDUP : Jordan Has 43, Bulls Rack Up Bucks

Michael Jordan scored 43 points, 17 on free throws, as the Chicago Bulls won their sixth consecutive game by downing the Milwaukee Bucks, 106-96, Tuesday night at Chicago.

Ricky Pierce scored 38 points for the Bucks, but Jack Sikma, with a 15-point average, went scoreless. Greg Anderson added 20 points for Milwaukee.

The Bulls had an 81-73 lead to start the final quarter and pulled away on Craig Hodges’ three-point shot and a three-point play by B.J. Armstrong.

Phoenix 120, Denver 101--Kevin Johnson had 28 points and Tom Chambers added 27 as the Suns beat the Nuggets at Phoenix, tying a club record with their 16th consecutive home victory.

Dan Majerle scored 12 of his 22 points in the third quarter and added 12 rebounds as the Suns won their ninth game in a row.

Detroit 106, Houston 102--Bill Laimbeer sank four free throws in the last 14 seconds of overtime and Isiah Thomas scored 37 points as the Pistons got past the Rockets at Auburn Hills, Mich.

Akeem Olajuwon scored 37 points and tied a career-high with 25 rebounds for Houston.

Portland 118, Cleveland 105--Kevin Duckworth had 21 points and 10 rebounds as the Trail Blazers defeated the Cavaliers at Portland to snap a three-game losing streak.

Clyde Drexler, who missed the previous four games with a sprained left ankle, added 20 points. Larry Nance and Brad Daugherty scored 20 points each for Cleveland.

New York 110, Dallas 87--Patrick Ewing scored 21 points and Trent Tucker had nine in a row during a 30-7 second-half spurt that carried the Knicks past the Mavericks at New York.

The Knicks held a 68-64 lead with 2:31 left in the third quarter after the Mavericks trailed by as many as 11 points earlier in the period. New York, 23-3 at home this season, scored 10 consecutive points for a 78-64 lead a minute into the fourth quarter.

Minnesota 104, Washington 88--Pooh Richardson scored 12 of his 22 points in the third quarter, including eight in a row during a 10-2 spurt that put the Timberwolves ahead to stay in a victory over the Bullets at Minneapolis.

Orlando 115, Charlotte 109--Reggie Theus scored 31 points as the Magic broke a seven-game losing streak by beating the Hornets at Orlando.

Indiana 118, New Jersey 113--Reggie Miller and Chuck Person had 25 points each as the Pacers dealt the Nets a 16th straight road defeat at Indianapolis.
