Beverly Hills Names New City Manager

Share

The Beverly Hills City Council has chosen Mark Scott, who left his job as a high-ranking administrator for the city only two months ago to take a new job in Santa Clarita, as its new city manager.

Scott, 40, will replace Edward S. Kreins, 55, who announced his retirement shortly after a dispute with the contractor brought work on the city’s new Civic Center to a halt in January.

With only 10% of the project left undone and negotiations under way to resume work, “The top priority is to get that back on the road and finish it,” Scott said. He is scheduled to assume the new job April 2.

A graduate of Cal State Fresno and Stanford University, Scott was in charge of planning, transportation and building and safety for Beverly Hills before he left last December to become director of community development in the new city of Santa Clarita. His salary will be about $115,000.
