A Petty Suit?: A lawyer sued rock singer Tom Petty for copyright infringement Wednesday, claiming that a song he wrote 14 years ago was misappropriated for a tune on Petty’s latest album. In the lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles, Martin Allen Fine, an attorney with a Beverly Hills firm, seeks profits from Petty’s song “Runnin’ Down a Dream,” released last year on his “Full Moon Fever” album. In his lawsuit, Fine claims “Runnin’ Down a Dream” has “music identical” to a song he wrote called “Ascending.”
