A man identified as New Jersey Net forward Charles Shackleford was arrested in Orange, N.J., on a charge of possession of a small amount of marijuana, authorities said.
Shackleford, who has been a focal point of an alleged point-shaving scheme at North Carolina State, was taken to the Orange Police Department headquarters and released after he posted bail.
ABC News, citing unidentified sources, reported Wednesday that Shackleford was being investigated for point-shaving during the 1987-88 season.
Shackleford has missed the last two games with an infected elbow and did not accompany the team on a recent trip. He was scheduled to return to the lineup Saturday against the Atlanta Hawks.
