From Times Staff and Wire Service Reports

Ted Koppel wouldn’t give in to Lee A. Iacocca’s demands, so the Chrysler Corp. chairman was left off the Wednesday night broadcast of “Nightline.” ABC had been promoting the “Nightline” all night by saying Iacocca would be on the show, which featured officials from Honda and Toyota talking about the merits of American and Japanese cars. But Iacocca wanted to be live on the set with Koppel instead of at a remote location. “We sometimes do allow guests on the set with Koppel but not when we are interviewing other guests from remote locations,” said David Tabacoff, senior producer of the show. “It would give the guest in the studio an unfair advantage.”
