BIG WEST : Santa Barbara Gets 20-Win Season, 77-76

Gary Gray scored 20 points and Eric McArthur added 18 to lead UC Santa Barbara over San Jose State, 77-76, in a Big West Conference game Saturday night at San Jose.
Carrick DeHart hit a 12-foot jump shot from the right baseline with 21 seconds remaining to give UC Santa Barbara a 77-73 lead and seal its third consecutive 20-win season. The Gauchos improved to 20-7 in the conference and 13-5 overall.
Troy Batiste of San Jose State (8-19 and 5-13) hit a three-point field goal at the buzzer, cutting the Gauchos margin of victory to 77-76.
Trailing 58-55 with 9:10 remaining, McArthur and Gray sparked a 9-0 run that keyed the victory for UC Santa Barbara.
McArthur, the NCAA Division I leading rebounder at 13.6 a game, threw down a thunderous dunk to start the run, and Gray--with 14 points in the second half--hit a hook shot on the baseline and scored on a offensive rebound after a missed free throw.
Andre Brooks led San Jose State, who had four players in double figures, with 16 points.
