Chris Couch, 16, shot a six-under-par 65 in a qualifying round for this week’s Honda Classic in Coral Spring, Fla., and became one of the youngest players to ever qualify for a PGA event.
Officials at the PGA, the United States Golf Assn. and Golf Digest magazine keep no records on the age of players at PGA events. The youngest player to win a tournament was John McDermott, who was 19 when he won the 1911 U.S. Open.
