He Won’t Be Idle: Billy Idol, still on the mend after a motorcycle accident last month, will get a different role in the upcoming Oliver Stone film “The Doors,” which has started filming in L.A. Idol’s publicist, Ellen Golden, said Thursday that Stone re-wrote the script to make room for a “substantial new role for Billy that will accommodate his physical limitations.” Idol, who was originally cast as Jim Morrison’s best friend, Tom Baker, will play another of Morrison’s wild pals. “Billy’s much happier now that he knows he can still be in film. This role will give him more time to heal,” said Golden. Idol is out of the hospital but still on crutches.
