COLLEGE ROUNDUP : UC Riverside Rallies in Seventh to Edge UCI
UC Riverside scored five runs in the seventh inning to defeat UC Irvine, 7-5, in a nonconference baseball game Thursday at Riverside.
Back-to-back doubles by Pete Weber and Ruben Ayala were the key hits in Riverside’s rally. Jon Damush, Chris Gallego and Jon Skaggs each had two hits for the Anteaters (13-8). Riverside is 17-6.
In nonconference baseball:
Wyoming 5, Southern California College 2--Mark Robert hit a two-run home run in the third inning to give visiting Wyoming a 3-0 lead. SCC scored single runs in the eight--on Doug Rystrom’s homer--and the ninth.
In the Pacific Coast Baptist Bible College baseball tournament at San Dimas:
Liberty Christian 9, Heritage 0--Mark Baltodano had nine strikeouts in six innings and had two hits to lead Liberty Christian (3-1). Heritage is 0-2.
