Eight Businesses Hit by Early Morning Fire

An early morning fire damaged eight businesses in a commercial building in South-Central Los Angeles Friday.
City fire spokesman Pat Marek said about 45 firefighters were sent to the building at 4030 S. Western Ave. near Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard to battle the blaze. Marek said the fire broke out about 12:19 a.m. and was brought under control at 12:58 a.m.
Marek said the fire damaged eight of the 10 commercial units located in the building. He said the fire was under investigation and that there were no immediate estimates of damages.
