University Facilities Should Be for Everyone

Share

I was angered by Dick Wagner’s article, “The Best Are Often the Pits” on Feb. 27. He implies that public money for public university gymnasiums should be spent with only basketball in mind. He bemoans the fact that there are volleyball, tennis and badminton lines in the gyms.

Has it ever occurred to Wagner that the many students who are serious about these other sports have to contend with distracting basketball lines, which are, in fact, wider than all the others? I have heard players from these other sports state that true champions learn to play under any conditions. Perhaps some basketball players need to learn this lesson.
