Carlette Guidry, shaking off the effects of a recent knee injury, won the women’s 200-meter dash in 23.28 seconds and gave Texas a big boost toward the women’s team title in the NCAA indoor Track and Field Championships in Indianapolis.
Guidry, the 1988 NCAA champion in the 55-meter dash and long jump, runner-up in the 200 and a member of the winning 1,600-meter relay team, had missed last month’s Southwest Conference Championships because of a strained left knee, suffered during practice.
Texas, the 1988 champion, is trying to regain the title after being dethroned by Louisiana State last year.
