Cypress College scored a run in the seventh inning to defeat Moorpark, 3-2, and win the Cypress softball tournament championship Sunday for the second consecutive year.
Tricia Barr singled in Teresa Anderson, who led off the inning with a single at Arnold Park in Cypress.
Moorpark led, 2-0, after scoring a run in the third and fifth innings. Cypress scored two runs in the fifth to tie the score, 2-2. The rally was capped by Rose Ferrante's two-out RBI single.
It was Cypress' third game of the day--the Chargers (14-2) also defeated Ventura, 3-0, and Taft, 6-3--in the tournament originally scheduled last month but was postponed because of rain.
In another tournament game:
Orange Coast 4, Taft 1--Cathy Scanlan was two for three with two RBIs and Niqua Monson pitched a four-hitter as the Pirates (13-3) took third place.
