Producers of the Year: Richard D. Zanuck and his partner-wife Lili Fini Zanuck won the Producers Guild of America’s Producer of the Year Award for theatrical motion pictures released in 1989 for “Driving Miss Daisy.” Their adaptation of the hit Broadway play led all other movies with nine nominations for Academy Awards this year and so far has grossed more than $60 million. Zanuck becomes the second member of his family to be honored by the Producers Guild of America. His father, Darryl F. Zanuck, won the award in 1953.
