Bellflower : School District to Offer Clothing to Some Families
The Bellflower Unified School District is giving new and used clothing to low-income families for their schoolchildren.
Beginning in April, low-income families whose children attend Bellflower schools can go to the “Clothes Closet” for shoes and clothing. Distribution will be at the district’s Child Development Center at 4718 E. Michelson St. in Lakewood.
Maryann Suggs, director of the program, said the “Clothes Closet” will accept donations of new and used clothing and especially needs shoes.
“It’s an exciting idea,” Suggs said. “Young children grow out of clothes so fast, and for poverty-level families it’s hard to keep their kids in clothes.”
