Ventura County residents are invited to apply for appointment as a public member of the Ventura Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO). The term is four years, two years as the alternate public member followed by two years as the regular public member. Applications will be accepted through March 23 and should consist of a letter of interest and a resume or biographical sketch outlining pertinent information, experience and interest. The Ventura County Symphony will host the 22nd Annual Young Artist Awards Competition, March 31 and April 1, at the Ventura College Theatre complex, Loma Vista and Day roads, Ventura. The categories for this year’s competition are piano, voice and cello or bass. First-prize winners will receive $1,000 and are invited to perform with the Ventura County Symphony. The Camarillo Branch of the American Assn. of University Women (AAUW) is accepting requests for applications for the AAUW Camarillo Branch Memorial Scholarship for Re-Entry Women. Selection criteria will include the applicant’s written statement of personal, educational and career goals, GPA, financial need and individual effort/personal struggle.
