The Doors (Doors Project). Shooting in L.A. and San Francisco. Oliver Stone’s next will be a look at the rise and fall of volatile poet Jim Morrison and his ‘60s outfit, The Doors. Val Kilmer plays Morrison as we trail the band from the dives of the Sunset Strip to their soaring success--cut short by Morrison’s mysterious 1971 death in a Parisian bathtub. A Kiss Before Dying (Robert Lawrence). Shooting in London and New York. “Fatal Attraction” scenarist James Dearden takes a stab at directing and adapting the Ira Levin novel. Matt Dillon, Sean Young and Max von Sydow topline this remake of the 1956 Robert Wagner chiller which focuses on a woman who is oblivious to fact that she married her twin sister’s killer. She finds out soon enough. Producers Robert Lawrence and Eric Fellmer. Also stars Diane Ladd and James Russo. Distributor Universal.

Mr. Destiny (Grapeshot). Shooting in North Carolina. Another writer of a blockbuster, “Three Men and a Baby’s” James Orr, dons his director hat. James Belushi and Michael Caine star as Caine assumes the title role, giving Belushi another shot at winning a crucial basketball game he blew way back in high school. Executive producer Lawrence Mark. Producers Orr, Jim Cruickshank (also a “Three Men” writer) and Susan Landau. Screenwriters Orr and Cruickshank. Mortal Thoughts (Avalanche/Polar/Rufglen). Shooting in Hoboken, N.J. Alan Rudolph has taken over direction from Claude Kerven as Demi Moore and Glenne Headly play a couple of best friends whose relationship is put in jeopardy when a murder cover-up occurs. Moore’s hubby Bruce Willis also stars in the thriller. Executive producers Taylor Hackford and Stuart Benjamin. Producer John Fiedler. Screenwriters William Reilly and Kerven. Also stars John Pankow and Harvey Keitel.

The Rain Killer (Concorde). Shooting in L.A. Ray Sharkey and “Wired’s” Michael Chiklis provide the thrills in this tale of the police and their pursuit of a serial killer who strikes only when it rains. Producer Rodman Flender. Director Ken Stein. Screenwriter Ray Cunnef. Fall release.
