Arkansas Gets a Scare From Dayton, 86-84
Todd Day’s follow shot off his own miss with four seconds left gave Arkansas an 86-84 victory over Dayton on Saturday night in the second round of the Midwest Regionals.
Seventh-ranked Arkansas will meet North Carolina, which upset top-ranked Oklahoma, 79-77, in the Midwest semifinals on Thursday at Reunion Arena in Dallas.
Dayton’s inbounds pass with two seconds left was deflected by Lenzie Howell as time expired.
Day, who scored 25 points, including 18 in the second half, came alive for Arkansas in the second half and his three consecutive baskets put the Razorbacks ahead, 72-60, with 10:14 to play. Arkansas stunned the Flyers with a 10-0 run that included three steals off its full-court press.
Dayton tied it at 81-all on a basket by Anthony Corbitt, but Day hit a three-point shot.
