Fullerton Municipal Airport will hold an air show from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, featuring vintage airplanes and special aeronautic events.

A precision parachuting team will show off its sky-diving talents, World War II vintage airplanes will buzz the airfield, the Goodyear blimp will pass overhead, scale-model airplanes will perform acrobatics and several airplanes and helicopters will be on display.

Admission is free, and shuttles will carry visitors to the airport from parking lots north of the airport on Artesia Avenue. Parking also will be available in Beatrice Foods lots at 535 N. Gilbert St.

Airplane and helicopter rides will be offered.

Noise from the airport probably will be noticeably louder that day because of the airplane fly-bys, city officials said.

Special guests during the show will include Roland Sperry, one of the original Flying Tigers; Robert Gilliland, a test pilot for the high-flying Lockheed SR-71 spy plane; Don Taylor, holder of world records for flying experimental aircraft, and Mike Nolan, a radio air-traffic reporter.

On display will be a military helicopter, a helicopter ambulance, a Fokker Tri-Wing, a Grumman Avenger and other vintage airplanes.

Activities will begin at 10:30 a.m., preceded by a $3, all-you-can-eat eggs and pancake breakfast offered by the Buena Park Exchange Club at 9 a.m.
