SHORT TAKES : Birth News Live With Kathie Lee
Sportscaster Frank Gifford and his talk show hostess wife, Kathie Lee, became the proud parents of Cody Newton Gifford early this morning. Young Cody made his debut at 1:28 a.m., weighing 8 pounds, 15 ounces. The birth was announced in true TV style--via a live telephone call to Regis Philbin on “Live With Regis & Kathie Lee” during the morning’s taping in New York.
Philbin’s wife, Joy, is filling in for Kathie Lee while she takes maternity leave.
The Giffords said they chose the name Cody while watching a Cleveland Browns’ game last season. Cody Risien, offensive tackle for the Browns, coincidentally retired Wednesday at age 32. An even greater coincidence--unbeknownst to the Giffords--is that the two share a birthday. Today, Cody Risien turned 33.
