SIDELINES : Browns’ Newsome Will Return
Browns tight end Ozzie Newsome said today that he intends to play another season in the NFL.
Newsome, 34, had considered retiring after last season. Instead, he will play his 13th season with the Browns, who made him a No. 1 draft pick out of Alabama in 1978. He has the most receptions of any tight end in NFL history, 639, and ranks fifth in career receptions among all pass receivers.
Newsome met last weekend with Browns owner Art Modell before making his decision to return.
