COLLEGE ROUNDUP : No. 1 Titans Blank Oklahoma State in Softball

Top-ranked Cal State Fullerton defeated No. 7 Oklahoma State, 3-0, in nine innings to win its pool in the Cal State Fullerton softball tournament.
Fullerton (22-8) scored three runs in the top of the ninth, keyed by Diana Foreman’s two-run single. Fullerton’s Joy Tiner scored on an error before Foreman’s hit.
Earlier, Fullerton beat sixth-ranked Nebraska, 3-1, as Charlotte Wiley drove in one run and scored another in the third inning. Ann Van Dortrecht (12-3) pitched a three-hitter for the Titans. Steph Skegas (8-1) was the losing pitcher. In NCAA wrestling:
Cal State Fullerton heavyweight David Jones won two matches to advance to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division I championships at College Park, Md. Jones pinned Paul Koenig of South Dakota State in 6 minutes 5 seconds, then defeated Brian Walczak of Toledo, 12-4. Two other Titan wrestlers, Jeff Naes (126 pounds) and Lyndon Campbell (134), were eliminated after losing twice. Defending champion Oklahoma State led the team competition.
In nonconference softball:
Chapman 6-3, Christ College Irvine 0-0--Jackie Blake (12-2) pitched a two-hitter in the first game and Shelley Mahon pitched a three-hitter in the second game to lead Chapman (25-8). Blake had two hits and two runs in the first game and three hits and one RBI in the second game. CCI is 15-12.
In Golden State Athletic Conference baseball:
Christ College Irvine 5, Point Loma Nazarene 3--Host Christ College Irvine (12-13 overall, 2-4 in conference play) was led by Mike Adams, who had three hits, two runs and a bases-clearing triple in the second inning. Adams (3-5) pitched a four-hitter, had 10 strikeouts and walked one. Point Loma Nazarene is 11-10-1, 1-5.
