LOS ALAMITOS : Divine Spirit Seeking 4th Straight Win in Calif. Sires
Divine Spirit will be looking for her fourth straight win when she tackles Goodness Gracie and seven others in the $20,000 California Sires Stakes for sophomore trotting fillies Thursday night at Los Alamitos.
It is the final sires stakes battle of the Los Alamitos winter-spring session for sophomore fillies.
First post will be at 7:30 p.m. The feature is the eighth race.
The field, in post position order: Divine Spirit, Rick Plano in the race bike; Congressional Star, Fritz Haug; Goodness Gracie, Jim Grundy; Gemstar Anna, Ross Croghan; How High The Moon, Nicol Tremblay; Magna Ms., Gaetan Brunet; Typical Anna, Rick Kuebler; Kimmie’s April, Steve Desomer, and Lovely Lorraine, Tim Maier.
Divine Spirit has scored five times this year from seven starts and has earned more than $63,000 lifetime. She beat Kimmie’s April and Goodness Gracie in a similar breeders’ stakes on March 8.
She seems to get better with each race and is considered as the one to beat; Goodness Gracie, Typical Anna and Kimmie’s April all have a chance to provide an upset.
