World cycling champion Greg LeMond, who has complained of feeling extremely tired in his early races this season, has withdrawn from Sunday’s Tour of Flanders World Cup event, organizers said today.

Belgian press reports said the 1989 Tour de France winner has a viral infection and is having blood tests in a Belgian hospital.

LeMond retired in last weekend’s Criterium International de la Route and the second stage of the De Panne three-day event Wednesday.
