Women’s Tennis Tournament Rained Out Again in Houston
From Associated Press
HOUSTON —
Heavy rains Thursday forced the postponement for the second day in a row of the $225,000 Virginia Slims of Houston women’s tennis tournament.
“We have suspended play,” tournament spokesman Brian Muir said. “We did not complete a match for the second straight day.”
Muir said meet organizers were trying to reschedule the matches for Friday.
The clay courts at the Westside Tennis Club proved to be too wet Wednesday evening when the tournament’s top-seed Martina Navratilova was scheduled to meet Bettina Fulco of Argentina.
